Do I need any experience to join beginner jiu jitsu classes?

No experience necessary! Our women's Brazilian jiu jitsu program is designed specifically for beginners. We teach BJJ basics and fundamental jiu jitsu techniques from the ground up, starting with basic positions and beginner jiu jitsu moves. Many women in our classes had never tried martial arts before joining.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing like a t-shirt and yoga pants or athletic shorts for your first beginner BJJ class. No special equipment needed to start learning jiu jitsu techniques. Once you decide to continue your Brazilian jiu jitsu training, we'll help you select the right gear from our pro shop.

Is it safe for beginners to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority in every women's jiu jitsu class. Our experienced instructors teach beginner jiu jitsu moves in a controlled, progressive manner. You'll learn fundamental BJJ techniques at your own pace with emphasis on injury prevention and proper form.

Can I try a class before committing?

Will I have to spar on my first day?

No. Your first several classes focus on learning fundamental jiu jitsu techniques and BJJ basics through partner drilling. Live sparring is introduced gradually as you become comfortable with basic jiu jitsu moves and core positions. Participation in sparring during your Brazilian jiu jitsu training is always optional.
